Wooldridge Case Study

Oval Gas Holder - April 2021 to September 2021

Notus Contract Lifting were contracted by Wooldridge Demolition to provide full contract lifting services, inclusive of engineering, crane hire and specialist labour to assist in the removal of 2no gas holders to allow further planned housing development.

All loads by their nature where non-returnable and as such required careful planning to ensure the correct factor of safety was achievable whilst allowing for readily available cranes to ensure the clients programme was maintained.

Varied loads were lifted throughout this project from 1.6te lattice intermediate beams to 8.5te main supporting columns, which were all calculated by our clients engineering team.

Being completely independent, Notus Contract Lifting, were able to utilise their supply chain network to source the required cranes for the duration of the project including a Liebherr LTM1130-5.1 with vario base outriggers which removed the need for a larger crane for a one-week period resulting in a cost saving to our client.

The cranes that were utilised for these works were as follows –

Spierings SK1265-AT6 Mobile Tower Crane – 2 weeks

Demag AC220-5 220te capacity class Mobile Crane - 1 week

Demag AC350-6 350te capacity class Mobile Crane – 1 week
